Every spring the Trilliums are with us for about two weeks. Usually mid-May, often around the long weekend. In Simcoe County we are blessed with numerous locations for seeing and photographing these lovely little symbols of Ontario. Please post some of your favourite accessible locations for seeing these wildflowers. Also please keep us updated as they appear.

Two public accessible locations for shooting Trilliums: A. Crossland Road south of the R&P gas station (County Rd 92 from Wasaga to Elmvale); where the road goes through the Simcoe County Forest; and B. along the banks of the Nottawasaga River, south of Edenvale where the river runs between two hardwood ridges (yes you will need some sort of watercraft to see these ones). These ones are on private land but they are usually in such a large number that you can shoot them from the water and it still makes a great shot.

Great suggestion. With this being the Easter weekend I wonder how many people are around? I will check around and perhaps have good news soon!

Kevin, Great suggestion, though some will have problems with the watercraft option. Two groups, same day? Put me down for the land option. Perhaps this idea will bear fruit at the 27 Apr 06 meeting. Best, LM.

Get ready folks. My wife works for Rose's Gardening Angels, and yesterday she was doing some work in Woodland Beach. The property had a lot of planted Trilliums on it. She tells me the leaves are out and getting bigger. No blooms yet, but she figures any day now. Five years ago on our Anniversary (7 May) we were in an area rich with Trilliums in full colour. With the early spring we have had - we expect the Trilliums to go into full colour very soon.

If you see them please post on this thread. If you are planning to go out and photograph them - invite someone along.

They are here!

On Saturday we paddled down the Nottawasaga River from Edenvale to Klondike Park. In 3 separate places we saw lots of full bloom Trilliums. Yes, you need a canoe to shoot these ones.

On Sunday heading down for Mother's Day in Newmarket we went down County Rd 29 - Crossland Rd, south from the R&P gas station - and there are several locations along the Simcoe County Forest where the Trilliums are out.

If I am going out to shoot them I will try to post here 24 hours in advance.
